February
Small job for the Leisure Lakes boys up at FLY-UP 417. They essentially work out of a shed in the middle of a field. Thermometers read -1 degrees throughout January and February. No considerable heating as the supply cable is to small to have big loads upon it so re-jigged the electrics around which freed up a 32a ringmain. Below is the maximum 4.5kw patio style heater they can have with the restrictions. A perfect solution for where the boys work on the bikes and serve customers. Infra-red is designed to heat the body not the area.
January

The Nightstor® Boiler works by storing heat from low-cost, off-peak electricity in a feolite core. When the user requires heat from the Nightstor® boiler, an integral fan passes air over the core, then over an air-to-water heat exchanger in a closed loop. This produces hot water which is circulated around the heating system by an integral pump.

Attend a property to carry out a full 17th Edition Conditioning Report. Found it strange that the customer only mentioned three circuits to whole of property. Upon closer inspection noticed that the previous electrician had not only changed the board without notifiying building control but also had doubled up on circuits in the fuseboard. You can notice multiple cables in the 32a mcb. This included sockets for the whole house, extension to property sockets,oil heating system and the intruder alarm. Also both lighting circuits had been doubled up. Also no protection on the live copper bus bar at the bottom of picture. all problem rectified. Call in a registered part-p electrician!

Interesting one. A simple job of changing boring pendants to decorative pendants, but noticed that the lighting circuit was wired in pvc singles and full conduit system, in a domestic house! Not necessarily anything to worry about, just strange. Would normally find this in commercial or industrial buildings. Maybe a over the top DIY job!

Distribution board upgrade for customer who sold their house. Brings it in compliance with the 17th edition.
A new 32a ringmain in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital basement. Existing fuseboards don't have additional protection so the circuit has to be covered using a 30mA RCBO. Old Pyro system disconnected and new FP200 gold cable used in it's place. Fully tested and inspected.
Homeowners were in the process of selling their house but the electricians who had put this sub board hadn't certificated it and were probably not part-p registered. A full installation test report issued, remedial failures completed and logged with building control.
Small outdoor lighting design including 6no. LV LED eyelid lights and 2no. LV LED chrome spike lights. Circuit switched via a wireless controller in the garage. Just need the garden to grow to hide the cables, and all will look good. Happy customer.
New lighting feed to street lights at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital Estates Dept. Existing feed had been damaged by some road works. Cable fed via a 20a RCBO switched via a photocell and can me manually overridden if needed for maintenance. Labelled, tested and inspected.
Sockets taken off skirting board and chased in wall. A regular annoyance of homeowners. Also two new decorative lights to positions agreed.
Property's earth didn't meet regulations and ze values were almost double the adequate value. As we couldn't locate the existing earth rod the only option was to put a new one in. The maximum Ze of a tt system is 200ohms. This property had 550ohms. Now its down to 95ohms. Safe home is a reliable earth.
New garden room fitted 75m down customers garden. Fuseboard inside room fed via 16.00mm swa cable. Commando socket fitted for outside jacuzzi.
Reasonable sized 3 in 1 storage space. Wired from house. Includes IP rated LED lighting and power.
Nice little project at the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum at the Gloucester Docks. 2no. 4.00mm SWA cables run through the museum and mounted outside to two 20a rotary isolators switching air conditioning units. Tested and inspected.
Fuseboard change. Customer called due to nuisance tripping of a 16a radial circuit feeding their heating system. The system was new and was causing the MCB to trip. Identified as a problem with the main switch in the outside meter unit. Previous electrician had put a 30mA main switch covering the house but a TT system (earth rod) requires 100mA at the main switch and 30mA covering individual circuits. Problem solved.
IP rated RCD double socket fitted in the Glos Royal Hospital fridge picking room. Wired back to distribution board with 2.5mm FP200 gold fire rated cable via a 16a type C MCB. Tested and inspected.
Old tubular T8 flourscent fitting replaced with LED equivalent in the tower block at Gloucester Royal Hospital. Ten floors of lighting.
Full new electrical installation to single storey extension in Charlton Kings. Comprising of new sockets, 4 way switching etc etc. Tested, inspected and signed off with building control. Satisfied customer.
New skylight added to customers dining area. Existing wall mounted lights disconnected and 8no. recessed LED downlights added to enhance the new build.
